Hello, My name is Dena, I am 44 years old. I live with something called Spondylolisthesis. I am reminded every morning when I wake up that I have this condition, this deformity, this pain, this annoyance! I wake up with a stiffness and aching pain in my lower back, I have learned to do the "Log Roll" before getting out of bed, and sometimes have to do some stretching of my calves and ankles before even attempting to get up.  My life starts out with getting something to eat immediately as I need to take my first pain pill of the morning..To get my "Day Going". To be able to function for a few hours before I have to take another pain pill and wait for it to make me feel "normal" or as "normal" as I'll ever be. I have been through soooo much since I was 32 years old and when my world was turned up side down, shaken, shattered and thrown to the curb. I will take you back to those beginning days, but first I want to tell you that because of all that I have been through, it has done some good as well for me. It has given me this strong urgency to Spread Awareness about this condition, about the dangers, and what to not ignore, and to tell you things that doctors haven't told you or they don't know. I have 100% slippage. I had an anterior and posterior spinal fusion done in September 2002. It was an 8 hour surgery and I had to wear a brace for 4 months. I used a hospital bed for 3 months in a spare bedroom in my home. It was a huge ordeal for me and my family. At the time my husband and I had 2 boys..the ages of 3 and 5. My husband and mother was a great support for me and I have no idea how I could have done it without them.

Let me stop for now with my story..and let me show you the "Spondylolisthesis Awareness Ribbon I recently created" and also have been putting this artwork onto T-shirts, buttons, keychains, coffee mugs, bumper stickers..etc…you can find these items at …………..
